Whether behind the wheel or behind the microphone, Kurt Hansen is accustomed to the fast track. The California native and Denver resident has parlayed a two-decade career as a professional driver and team owner into a successful broadcasting career, earning praise as one of the most knowledgeable and entertaining personalities in motor sports radio and television.

A 1982 graduate of the Jim Russell Racing School, Hansen was a member of the French Formula 3 AVIA team in 1986, and claimed both the West Coast Formula Atlantic and Pacific Coast Racing Championships in 1991. Hansen broke three qualifying lap records in Portland, Ore., Laguna Seca and Sears Point Raceway and competed professionally in the Toyota Atlantic Championship 1991-93. After retiring as a driver, Hansen saw broadcasting as a way to keep his competitive fires burning.

Hansen launched his broadcasting career in 2001 in San Francisco as host of Race Central before coming to Denver.  He can now be heard right here on FM Sportsradio 104.3 The FAN every Saturday!  Hansen could also be heard nationwide as motor sports correspondent for ESPN Radio’s The V Show, heard on all 450 of the network’s affiliates. Hansen also hosts a television version of Race Central on Rocky Mountain’s Altitude Sports and Entertainment Network – television home of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets and NHL’s Colorado Avalanche - reaching over nine million homes blanketing an 11 state area, and is also seen regionally and nationally on Comcast, Dish Network and Direct TV. Hansen also makes regular appearances on ESPN2, Speed TV and the Outdoor Channel’s racing coverage. Race Central’s guest list is a ‘Who’s Who’ in auto racing, including Bill Elliott, Matt Kenseth and Danica Patrick, as well as numerous celebrities from sports and entertainment. Hansen credits his racing background for opening so many doors in his career and earning the respect of those in the racing industry.

McGetrick Golf Academy's In The Fairway

Jerry began playing golf at the age of 8. Although technology has improved significantly over the years, his game, remarkably, has remained stagnant. Walters is a member of the Golf Writer’s Association of America and the Rocky Mountain Golf Writer’s Association.


Jerry’s full-time endeavor is the PGA Tour representative for Yes! Golf, manufacturers of the popular C-Groove putter. He works with players on both the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour. Aside from that, he writes for Colorado AvidGolfer magazine and is a course-rating panelist for Golf Digest Magazine.


Walters’ highest achievements have been when he was recognized as the Media Person of the Year for both the Colorado Golf Association (2001) and the Colorado Section of the PGA (2003). He has been in the golf media since 1993, hosting golf talk shows on the radio and co-hosting a television show on a local cable network.


Work limits the amount of golf Walters plays, but he states that “his job allows him to be ‘inside the ropes’ with the greatest players on the planet.” Being with the PGA Tour allows him to obtain phone numbers from players and caddies for future show appearances. “Shoot, don’t tell anyone, but I’d travel with the tour for FREE, or better yet, yes! I’d pay to do it.”

Jon Lawrence's career path looks like something scribbled on a cocktail napkin by someone with a serious case of the dt's. Nearly 35 years of radio, from Willie and Waylon to 3 feet of powder and packed powder, from WAKC in Normal, Illinois to FM Sportsradio 104.3 The FAN right here in Denver, hasn't killed him....yet...but it has left visible scars. Take his golf game, please.

Enter "In the Fairway", where Jon serves as warped foil to his partner, Jerry Walters, more button-down approach to the game. Voice of reason he's not. An 8 or 13 handicapper, depending on the opponent and/or stakes, Jon plays golf like he co-hosts the show.....with reckless abandon and blatant disregard for convention.

Writing a column for GolfViews Magazine that has alternately been described as "pathetically funny" and "absent of even a shred of political correctness, not to mention obvious skill" , Lawrence is a member of the Rocky Mountain Golf Writer's Association and the Golf Writer's Association of America.

A self-described "trophy husband", he's married to Katrina, with daughters Strawberry (no kidding), Amanda, Jasmin, and Myriah, and, this hurts, grandkids Paige and Jamison.

In his ample spare time, he can be found at Rolling Hills, trying to scrounge up a game, or his therapist, trying to make sense of it all.
